You said “YES”, now how to pop the question to your bridesmaids!

Wedding-Down-Hall-Essex-Wedding-Venues

As an Essex wedding photographer I know that bridesmaids are the ultimate wedding heroes. They fix the Bride’s makeup, fix her dress after partying mishaps, and fix her a prosecco to ease the nerves before walking down the aisle. They plan a killer hen party and keep everything rosy for the Bride at one of the most special but hectic times of her life.

It is for all of these reasons that the very act of asking your nearest and dearest to be by your side on your wedding day is becoming an event in itself. Gone are the days of popping the question over a glass of fizz, or by text message.

The ‘be my bridesmaid’ craze has gone viral; help yours feel special by asking them in a creative way. Today’s wedding planning begins on Pinterest and Instagram, so creative inspiration is easily accessible and in abundance. Here we share five awesome ways you can ask your bridesmaids to be part of your ‘Bride tribe’

1.Balloons

Not just any old balloon will do. Send a millennial balloon of dreams! These helium numbers are usually transparent, round and filled with glitter and confetti. The string could be a handmade daisy chain, a cool foliage strip, ribbons or crepe paper streamers. The balloon itself is emblazoned with the question “Will you be my bridesmaid?” and is delicately packed into a tissue-lined box. Deliver them in person or send to their home or workplace for an awesome surprise!

2. Cupcakes

Everyone loves cupcakes! Many bakeries will deliver the trendy treats, or you can make it personal and bake them yourself. It’s a real cost-effective and delicious way to make your newly-appointed bridesmaid’s day. Ultimate Bride points.

3. Gift boxes

Build individual gift boxes, filled with things to get them through the next few months of wedding planning! Pyjamas, a scented candle, nail varnish in the wedding theme colour, a bath bomb and a glass of something sparkling always go down a treat. Swap a personalised Champagne flute with a personalised mug for non-drinkers. Throw in some pictures of you together over the years for good measure!

4. Bracelets

There is a huge choice of be my bridesmaid bracelets out there – we particularly like these ‘help me tie the knot’ bangles with knot detail and initials for each bridesmaid. These are particularly handy if you have to travel to ask your bridesmaids in person, simply pop them in your bag and you’re away! It is also one less thing to buy later down the line, as the bridesmaids can wear the bracelet on the day of the wedding.

5. Soundtrack

Collate the soundtrack to your friendship and design the cover to ask that all-important question. CDs might be a bit retro but they work really well, plus everyone has a CD player somewhere in their lives. Alternatively upload onto a mini mp3 player and ask the question on the gift box.

Show your bridesmaids how much they mean to you and your big day. The gesture doesn’t have to be lavish, grab a cup of tea and scour Pinterest for some creative and thrifty ideas. We hope you find these ideas when it comes to asking your leading ladies!
